Things to do in PortAventura Park
Located only an hour from Barcelona, PortaAventura World with its three theme parks (PortaVentura Park, Ferrari Land and PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park) is one of Spain’s most visited theme park resorts and one of the most famous in Europe.
PortAventura Park has six themed areas: Mediterránea, Far West, Mexico, China, Polynesia and SésamoAventura (based on the characters of Sesame Street). Each themed area has its own attractions, including rides, restaurants and shows, as well as hotels to fit the theme.
The Mediterránea area replicates a typical Catalonian fishing village. One of its star attractions is undoubtedly the Furios Baco, an accelerator roller coaster that goes from 0 to 135km/h in 3 seconds. The Polynesia area is more laid back in style with lush vegetation. Visitors to this area can enjoy the Tutuki Splash, a water themed ride that shoots out of a volcano.
Put your nerves of steel to the test on Shambhala, the highest roller coaster in the park with a 78-metre drop, or on Dragon Khan, with its eight loops at 100km/h, both in the China theme zone. Visit the Mayan pyramid in Mexico and bring out your adventurous spirit in the labyrinth of El Secreto de los Mayas, or if you prefer, become a cowboy for a day at the Buffalo Rodeo in Far West. And of course, don’t go home without saying hi to Elmo and Bert at SésamoAventura.
The nearby Ferrari Land offers 60,000m² of pure adrenaline. In addition to learning about the history of the Italian brand, you can also enjoy attractions and car racing simulators. Speed lovers cannot miss the Red Force attraction, which rises 112 metres and reaches 180km/h in just 5 seconds. Another of the most popular attractions is the Maranello Grand Race, a 570-metre racing circuit where you can compete with the whole family.
And to cool off, nothing beats a visit to the Costa Caribe Aquatic Park, a Caribbean themed waterpark that offers reggae music, palm trees, beaches and 16 water-based attractions. The star of this park is the King Khajuna free fall slide, Europe’s tallest at 31m (131ft) and with a 55-degree drop.

Reviews PortAventura Park
“Got on 3 rides all day, long queues rides out of order. Queued for 1 hour for 1 ride, just about to get on then it closed due to technical problems.”
“Overall theming of the park was good however there were a lot of rides down for maintenance as well as around 50% of food and beverage options being closed and a majority of the staff were rude and really unhelpful. We had issues with the lockers there and no one was wiling to help until we made our issue clear to them.”
“We didn't realise that you could only go to 1 Park on a day and that you couldn't swap to another one ,we would rather it to be able to swap between the parks and use one park multiple times on those 3 days but overall the parks were amazing”
“In peak season the one day tickets should include the express entry to skip long queues. This was ticket only so no Tui staff to ask questions to and no visable staff at the venue - it wasn't clear if we had to wait in line or just walk through with our prepaid tickets- when I used the app, I had no answer for ages and the eventual response did not address my query. But the park itself is great and would have liked to have done more - could not spend more days there as wanted to see Other sight”
