What to expect

The charming old town of Marbella and the upscale opulence of Puerto Banus provide a perfect contrast on this trip. Take half a day to discover them both, with plenty of free time to explore. Sonia, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The Golden Mile has been synonymous with luxury since 1954, when Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe opened the Marbella Club Hotel. His exclusive club tempted royalty and other glamorous figures to pay Marbella a visit. Once they began building their own properties in the area, the Golden Mile was born.'

First, you'll explore Marbella's old town, with time for browsing its boutiques and wandering its cobbled lanes. Maybe sip a coffee in the popular Orange Tree Square – the picturesque hub of the old town – fringed by traditional restaurants and cafés. Take a stroll through shady Alameda Park to admire the tiled benches and fountain, see the Dali sculptures along the Avenida del Mar, or take the air along the palm-lined seafront.

We'll then drive along the famous Golden Mile – Dolph Lundgren, Joan Collins, Hugh Grant and Antonio Banderas are just some of the residents here – to the millionaire's playground of Puerto Banus. Check out the luxury yachts moored in the marina or maybe indulge in a spot of designer shopping. Sonia says, ‘This marina was once an old fishing village. The upgrade was designed by Jose Banus with the international jet set in mind.' When you've had your fill of bling, relax by the water's edge for a spot of people, or celebrity, watching.

Pointless stopping at Puerto Bano for 90 minutes as there’s nothing there The trip should be simply to Marbella that offers much more The guide was useless - he rambled on in numerous languages and really struggled with English I could not wait to get away from his pointless ramblings

We didn't get to do the golden mile due to road closures, which was the main reason we booked the trip...this i would've thought would be known before we booked the trip...it was very disappointing. We might has well have got a taxi as we were left mainly to our own devices!

    Travelled with family

Unfortunately there was confusion regarding our group. When the experience was sold to us by the rep at the welcome meeting, we expected that as a family, we would be travelling together. As we paid separately, this ment that your admin department treated each booking as individual, meaning when doing the experience, the reps expected our family to split up over differnet coaches. When we protested your rep was very rude explaining this was not her fault. totally unprofessional.

On this full day tour, you'll visit the UNESCO-listed old town of Cordoba in May, when it comes to life during the annual patio competition. You'll see the flower-festooned patios on a guided tour, discover the great mosque and enjoy free time to explore. Paco, one of our local guides, says, ‘Scratch beneath the surface in Cordoba, and you'll find the orient. Everywhere you look, the past stares back at you. And for a true flavour of modern Cordoba, make sure to try our trademark chilled salmorejo soup.'Once the biggest city in Europe, Cordoba offers up an exotic mix of Roman, Moorish, Christian and Jewish influences – all reflected in the old town. You'll set off on an extended walking tour of the San Basilio neighbourhood to see it all for your own eyes, while also taking in a couple of the patios decorated in flowers for the festival that takes place throughout May. They bring so much colour to the city and are eminently instagrammable. Afterwards, you'll be handed your ticket to enter the medieval mosque, or Mezquita – Cordoba's showpiece. Get the lowdown from your expert local guide on the history behind this UNESCO World Heritage Site. It boasts 800 two-tiered arches, honeycombed domes and many more treasures. Uniquely, it hosts a no-expense-spared decorated Renaissance cathedral in its core.
