This full day trekking along one of the typical Madeira canal called levada, will take you to the major peaks of Madeira, and give you a complete perception of how beautiful the island is.
The levada starts in Pico do Arieiro, the third-highest point of the island, and continues to Pico Ruivo that with its 1861m is the highest peak of the island; passing by an ancient heather forest, with breathtaking views, you will reach the last peak of the walk, Achada do Teixeira, known for its rock formations, like the basalt stone called the "standing man".
This trekking experience is classified as hard, and is suggested for experienced hikers.
