Things to do in Old Town Rhodes

4.4/5 (19)

Founded by the Knights of Saint John, the Old City of Rhodes is a medieval wonder and labyrinth to explore. Step back in time as you enter through one of its seven gates and get lost among its cobbled streets.

Stroll along the Street of the Knights and see the seven inns that symbolically represent the seven languages of the Knights. This street takes you to another top sight, the New Hospital-Archaeological Museum, and the Grandmaster's Palace.

This palace, with its beautiful architecture, is one of the most impressive sights on the island. Go inside the museum to see its ancient sculptures, mosaics and frescoes up close, and learn about its fascinating history.

There is also a Turkish Quarter in the city, the tourist center of the Old Town where you can get lost in the alleys and savour the oriental scents. The Turkish Baths are open to the public if you fancy some pampering.

Try going up the Clock Tower for a bird’s eye view of the city too!

Whether you visit during the day for its lively buzzing atmosphere or at night when the cobbled streets are all lit up, you’ll have a magical experience at this Unesco World Heritage Site.

“Tour was good, the tour guide needed to hold the microphone up to her mouth, so we could hear her properly. I felt sorry for the restaurant where we had our meal, as I had told Musement when I booked the trip I was Gluten Free but the tour guide appeared to only tell them when we arrived .”

“Very knowledgeable guide dinner was good, we had a French group and an English group combined it made the experience twice as long as one would expect it to take.We were not made aware of the two group situation beforehand.”
