What to expect

Tenerife's Mount Teide National Park boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery and views in all the archipelago. Crowned by the volcanic peak of Mount Teide, this natural wilderness takes on an otherworldly quality as the setting sun glazes its ridges and rocks in soft pinks, reds and purples.

The skies and atmospheric conditions above Teide – the highest mountain in Spain – are among the best in the world for stargazing. You'll be driven high up into the craggy wilderness of the national park, with lots of photo stops along the way.

As daylight fades, watch the setting sun fire this landscape in a blaze of colour. Then, once darkness has fallen, we'll continue on to a special viewpoint where your professional guide will map out the night sky for you, explaining the starry constellations. And to top it all, a three-course dinner sets the seal on the whole magical outing.

In Icod de Los Vinos, you'll admire the centuries-old dragon tree, with some free time to wander around the town. Devastated by a volcanic eruption in 1706 and rebuilt on its lava, it's now famous for natural lava pools, guarded by a volcanic rock castle, where locals and visitors alike come to bathe. When it's time to take a break, there's a tasty local lunch, served in a family-run restaurant in a traditional finca. Teno Rural Park showcases the island's rich biodiversity and is known as the source of Tenerife's top-quality natural produce. On this tour, you'll journey through the south and get to know the island's culture and identity. You'll see how aloe vera is grown and learn about its many uses at a plantation, explore the lofty village of Vilaflor de Chasna and sample local wines. Ivan, one of our expert local guides, says “Vilaflor was once called Chasna. But, when a ship captain called Pedro de Bracamonte visited, he spotted a beautiful Guanche girl and shouted Vi la flor de Chasna, which means I've seen the flower of Chasna – after this, the village got its name.”The dry climate and year-round sunshine in the Canaries mean that aloe vera thrives here, even though it is not a native species – it originally came from the Arabian Peninsula. You'll take a guided tour of the plantation, and the owners will share their knowledge about the curative powers of this well-known plant, which is used for medicinal purposes in cultures throughout history.Next, you'll visit Vilaflor.
