Things to do in Texel

Texel is the first and largest of the Dutch Wadden Islands located in the north of the Netherlands. Known for its beaches, sheep, nature reserves, and picturesque villages, the island is a wonderful place to visit for anyone. You reach the island by ferry from Den Helder in just 20 minutes.Texel is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches and offers beach vacationers more than 30km of sandy beach. One of the island's landmarks is the Texel lighthouse on the north. The red-brick tower is 150 years old and definitely worth a visit. Climb to the top to enjoy a stunning view over Texel and its neighbor Vlieland. The main point of Texel is Den Burg, one of the seven charming villages on the island. With the tourist office and variety of restaurants, Den Burg is the largest town, but all seven have their unique atmosphere and are worth a visit. Surrounding the villages you can find unique nature reserves with birds, sheep, and sand dunes perfect for bike rides of hikes.
